Answer 42 – Kickstand Pub, November 11, 2009

Central Ohio may not be Asbury Park, but the music scene in Columbus is alive and well.  On the 11th of November, I stopped by the Kickstand Pub in Westerville, OH to take in Answer 42.  Answer 42 is a highly skilled rock band with the ability to quickly provide a fun atmosphere.  Powerful vocals, along with the mixture of their own original music and their own takes on cover songs, makes Answer 42 a great night out.

Kickstand Pub is located in a small strip mall on the north side of Columbus.  The bar covers quite a bit of the left side as you come in, while pool tables take care of the space on the right.  They set the band stage at the back, so the entire place is able to get a good view.  Nice place to see a show, and what’s not to like about 24 ounce cans of Labatt!

Answer 42 commands a strong on-stage presence, and some of my favoriate renditions included covers of “Rendezvous” by Eve 6, “My Own worst Enemy” by Lit, “Use Somebody” by Kings of Leon, and “Paralyzer” by Finger Eleven.  I’m not a big fan of Rage Against the Machine, but Answer 42 really performs an excellent cover of “Pocket Full of Shells.”  That’s not all, though.  Answer 42 even digs into the 80s and further with their own versions of OMD’s “Don’t You Forget About Me” and Van Morrison’s “Brown Eyed Girl,” bringing back great memories of music I grew up with.   Sure. I’m old! If you’re in the Columbus area and love a good rock show like I do, I recommend checking out Answer 42!   http://www.myspace.com/answer42rocks
